Former Vols teammates each land multiyear NFL free agent deals
A pair for former Tennessee Vols landed nice free agent deals on Monday
Monday afternoon marked the unofficial beginning of NFL free agency and a couple of former Tennessee Vols standouts cashed in big time.
The new league year doesn't begin until Wednesday which means deals can't become official until then.
But with the legal tampering period beginning on Monday, teams are able to speak with free agents and come to agreements.
Former Vols cornerback Cam Sutton spent the first six years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he'll be putting on a new uniform in 2023.
Sutton reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Detroit Lions worth $33 million. The deal includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money.
That's not the only former Vol that landed a nice new contract.
Defensive lineman Shy Tuttle, who spent the first four years of his career with the New Orleans Saints after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, agreed to a three-year deal with the Carolina Panthers on Monday.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Tuttle's deal with Carolina is worth $19.5 million with $13 million guaranteed at signing.
Tuttle will join former Vol offensive lineman Cade Mays in Carolina.
Sutton and Tuttle played together at Tennessee in 2015 and 2016.
