Comments from Steelers' new free-agent addition should get fans excited
The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to a deal with a future Hall of Famer on Monday
The Pittsburgh Steelers agreed to a deal with a potential future Hall of Famer on Monday afternoon.
Shortly after the legal tampering period opened, the Steelers signed cornerback Patrick Peterson to a two-year deal (the deal can't become official until Wednesday).
Peterson, who turns 33 this summer, wants to play two more years.
Before the tampering period opened on Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted a clip from his podcast that featured Peterson saying that he wanted to sign with a team that would give him a chance to win some jewelry (a Super Bowl ring, obviously).
Peterson's had an incredible NFL career since entering the league in 2011.
But the one thing that's escaped him is a Super Bowl ring.
Peterson knows he's nearing the end of his career and his main focus appears to be winning a Super Bowl.
He wouldn't have signed with the Steelers if he didn't think winning a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh was possible.
We obviously can't predict the future, but Peterson clearly felt good about the direction the Steelers are moving in or he would've found another opportunity elsewhere.
The 2022 season didn't go as Pittsburgh fans hoped it would — the Steelers came up just short of reaching the playoffs.
But there's plenty of optimism moving forward with Kenny Pickett under center. And that optimism clearly has Peterson believing that bringing Super Bowl to Pittsburgh in the next two years is very possible.
