One of the Raiders' best players doesn't like what the team just did

It’s pretty easy to understand why Josh Jacobs isn’t a fan of the Raiders’ latest move.

It's never fun when a team trades away one of its best players. Especially for the other players on the roster.

The NFL is known as a brotherhood, one that even extends beyond team colors and nicknames, these days. Players are more connected than ever, so it certainly stings them when they have to watch one of their own go down a different path.

Las Vegas Raiders Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs experienced this firsthand when the team traded Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants for a third-round pick.

And like a lot of NFL players (and just people in general), Jacobs took to Twitter to express his thoughts:

It's understandable why Jacobs doesn't like the move. He and Waller have been teammates since the 2019 season, which was Jacobs' rookie year and Waller's breakout year.

Both players have also been through a lot by simply playing for the franchise, as well.

But what makes the situation so difficult is how Waller got to the point of becoming one of the NFL's best tight ends. His ascension with the Raiders is a story of triumph and perseverance that not many people are capable of achieving.

Waller struggled with addiction early in his NFL and career and was suspended for the entire season in 2017. Waller eventually checked himself into rehab and got clean. The NFL then reinstated him in August of 2018.

Then, the Raiders' current head coach, Jon Gruden and offensive coordinator Greg Olson, noticed Waller during a Ravens practice squad workout before a Week 12 matchup.

Following the loss to the Ravens, the Raiders ended up claiming Waller off of the Ravens practice squad, and his story took off.

Waller would go on to become one of the Raiders' best offensive weapons alongside the likes of Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams.

It remains to be seen how the Waller trade will affect the offense on the field, but it certainly affected one of the Raiders' best players off the field.
