The Detroit Lions made a risky move on Tuesday that could end up paying off in a major way.

On Monday, the Lions signed cornerback Cam Sutton to a three-year deal worth $33 million.

A day later, the Lions signed another cornerback (reminder: deals can't become official until the new league year starts on Wednesday).

Detroit reportedly signed cornerback Emmanuel Moseley to a one-year deal worth $6 million.

Moseley, who was teammates with Sutton in college at Tennessee, is coming off a torn ACL that he suffered last season in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

The Greensboro, NC native, however, is expected to be fully ready for training camp.

If Moseley returns to his pre-injury form — and most players do these days when returning from an ACL injury — he could be one of the biggest steals of the offseason.

Moseley, who wasn't highly recruited coming out of Dudley High School in North Carolina, was rated by Pro Football Focus as the 30th-best cornerback in the NFL before his injury.

The former Tennessee standout also allowed just a 63.5 passer rating when he was targeted prior to his injury last season.

If not for the torn ACL, Moseley might have received a deal similar to Sutton's. There's always the risk that Moseley might have trouble returning from his injury, but if he doesn't suffer any setbacks, this is a move that Detroit will be praised for this fall.
