Former Bengals player who left in free agency sends heartfelt message to fans
Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perine sent a heartfelt message to fans this week after signing with the Denver Broncos
The Cincinnati Bengals said goodbye to running back Samaje Perine this week.
Perine, who spent the last three seasons with the Bengals (plus part of the 2019 season), agreed to a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday.
Perine, a former Oklahoma standout, didn't put up gaudy numbers with the Bengals, but he was still a key player in Cincinnati. Perine is one of the best pass-blocking running backs in the NFL. That's part of the reason why he played more snaps than Joe Mixon in the Bengals' AFC Championship game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
After agreeing to the deal with Denver, Perine took to Twitter to share a heartfelt message with Bengals fans.
"Cincinnati, I just want to say thank you [for] accepting my family and I with open arms," wrote Perine. "We couldn’t have asked for a better home these past four years. I will always have nothing but love for you."
Denver is getting a good one in Perine. And the Bengals now have an important role to fill. Perine's ability to pass protect in key situations will certainly be missed in Cincinnati.
