Earlier this week, the Dallas Cowboys made sure that running back Tony Pollard would be on the roster in 2023 when they hit him with the franchise tag.

They still have to decide on the future of Ezekiel Elliott. But whether or not he's back next season, the Cowboys did their due diligence at the running back position during the NFL combine.

Dallas met with Devon Achane (Texas A&M), Jahmyr Gibbs (Alabama), Tank Bigsby (Auburn), and Israel Abanikanda (Pittsburgh) in Indianapolis. As of Thursday, two more have been added to the list in the form of Roschon Johnson (Texas) and Kendre Miller (TCU).

Johnson was the backup to highly sought-after stud Bijan Robinson who won the Doak Walker Award in 2022 after rushing for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns. However, Johnson was no slouch.

The Port Arthur, Texas native ran for 1,564 yards and 17 touchdowns averaging 5.7 yards per rush over the last three seasons behind Robinson.

Johnson could easily be a Day 3 pick for the Cowboys.

Miller ran for 388 yards as a true freshman and then 623 as a sophomore. That was in a backup role, but last season, Miller became the starter, and big production followed.

Miller would run for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns which resulted in a first-team All-Big 12 nod, joining Johnson's teammate Robinson.

At 5'11" and 215 pounds with power and elusiveness to his game, Miller could be a third-round pick on Day 2.

These meetings make Elliott’s future with the Cowboys look very uncertain despite his desire to take a pay cut.
