The Chicago Bears should be one of the most exciting teams to watch when free agency gets underway next week.

Chicago, which went through a roster teardown last season, is armed with nearly $100 million in cap space this offseason.

And they have plenty of needs to fill.

One of those needs is at wide receiver. The Bears have Darnell Mooney locked in as their top wide receiver. And they're hoping that a midseason trade for Chase Claypool will pay off in 2023 (Chicago acquired Claypool for a second-round pick last season, but he caught just 14 passes for 140 yards in seven games with the Bears). But they could still use some playmakers at wide receiver even with those two on the roster.

With Chicago committed to Justin Fields as their quarterback, they'd be wise to make sure to target wide receivers that would pair well with Fields.

One option could be Fields' former college teammate at Georiga, Mecole Hardman.

Hardman sent a tweet on Thursday suggesting that he'd like to reunite with Fields in Chicago.

Hardman, who has won two Super Bowl rings with the Kansas City Chiefs, could be a solid addition to the Bears' roster. And his familiarity with Fields is certainly a positive.

The former Bulldogs standout isn't going to be a superstar. But he has a lot of experience and he could provide valuable leadership while also helping Fields' development.

Chicago, however, shouldn't overpay for Hardman. Just because they have cash to spend doesn't mean they need to be reckless.
