It is well-known that the Indianapolis Colts will address the quarterback position through the 2023 NFL Draft. Many assume that will be with the first-round selection with the team holding a top-five selection.

However, a recent trade has created a shakeup at the top of the draft. Meaning that the Colts won't have their pick of the signal caller that they come away with. Which creates a tricky situation for new head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard.

Therefore, Indianapolis continues to do their due diligence in the draft process. That includes meeting with other QB prospects that could be on the board later on in draft weekend.

One quarterback prospect that the Colts are set to meet with is former Tennessee star Hendon Hooker. Hooker is scheduled to visit with a handful of teams in the pre-draft process as teams learn more about the second tier of prospects behind center.

Hooker lit up the SEC while playing for Josh Heupel in Knoxville. He threw for 3,135 yards and 27 touchdowns in 11 games last fall. That included a five-touchdown performance versus Alabama.

Furthermore, Hooker completed just under 70% of his passes and only threw five interceptions in two seasons while starting for the Volunteers. That kind of production and decision making will be attractive to the NFL.

On the other hand, Hooker is already 25-years old and is coming off a torn ACL that ended his final collegiate season prematurely. Those red flags are partially why he is not expected to be drafted until the second day of the draft.

The Indianapolis Colts are wise to bring the former All-SEC quarterback in for a visit to pick his brain and find out more about him. While the smart money is the Colts drafting a QB in the first-round, anything can happen once the draft begins.
