New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders recently parted ways with their former franchise quarterback in Derek Carr. For some fans, it was hard to see a guy who has given his all for nine years' leave. For other fans, it was easy to see a very inconsistent player at times leave. It's safe to say the fan base was often split on Carr during his time in Las Vegas.

But, he is a guy that you can't deny has a lot of love for the franchise. You can't deny that he always gave his 100% hardest effort no matter what the situation was.

But, at the end of the day, the two sides needed a break from each other. It was the right move. But Carr doesn't have any ill will toward the Raiders. In fact, he had some words that I think every Raiders fan will appreciate.

"Do I have things that I want to complain about? Of course, I'm human. Do I have things that I wish I did better? Of course, I'm human," Carr said on a podcast. "But one thing that I am proud of is the effort and what I gave for nine years. For Mr. Davis to come to me and say, thank you and all this kind of stuff. And I told him like I'm a Raider. Like when I retire someday like you can't take that away from me. You can't take away what I did in Oakland.

"You can't take away what I did in Las Vegas. Like you can be mad at it, but you can't take it away, it is what it is. And so, it didn't end how I wanted it to… And I tried my best to hold myself to that commitment to being excellent for them. I hope that the Raiders fans can be happy for me because I'll be happy for them. I hope Jimmy [Garoppolo] does great. I have a lot of friends on that team I hope does great because I want them to have success."

The Raiders and Carr have shared a ton of great memories together, unfortunately, none of those were last year. But, that doesn't mean we can't appreciate what he did. In nine years with the Raiders, Carr put up over 25 thousand passing yards and 217 touchdowns. He finished as the Raiders' franchise leader in both.

The part of his message that resonates with me and will with fans is that he will always be a Raider. He wants to retire as a Raider. I think he deserves that too.
