After a slow start to his NFL career, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Logan Hall is in need of a major step up in 2022.
It isn't so much that Hall was bad last season, teams just tend to expect more out of the guys they take in the early rounds that also happen to be at positions of need.
Hall only ended up playing a depth role for most of the season, and while he did post 2.5 sacks, the expectations were perhaps higher for the second-round pick out of Houston.
The good news for Hall and the Bucs is that the 2022 season is over and now the focus turns to being as good as possible in 2023. Growth did happen last season, and finding a way to turn that into success this year is the name of the game.
Head coach Todd Bowles is ready for Hall to take some big steps as a role opens up for him with both starting veterans from last year currently on the free agent market.
“I look forward to Logan Hall taking the next step,” Bowles told reporters Tuesday. “I thought, toward the end of the year, he really got better doing a lot of things and he’s going to be a big force for us this year.“I look forward to him taking the next step, mentally.”
This is perhaps a bit of coach-speak on a guy that does need to take the next steps, but Bowles is right that there were flashes in Hall's game that indicate he is closer than some would think.
With quality athleticism and decent production in the quarterback hit category (6), it does seem that Hall could find ways to increase his production with the right coaching and increased reps.
There is still a lot of time between now and the start of the season, but keep an eye on Logan Hall and his development during the coming months. It sure seems like Todd Bowles will.
