The New Orleans Saints have a formidable offense for 2023. In fact, it could be good enough for an NFC crown. That is yet to be seen, though. Regardless, they upgraded at quarterback, and their wide receiver room has a ton of upside. Adding Derek Carr signals one major factor for the Saints going forward as well.
They're gonna throw the ball downfield more often. That's great news for fans because New Orleans has struggled mightily in that area for multiple years now.
According to Nick Shook of NFL.com, Carr is the eighth-best deep ball passer in the NFL.
In summary: Carr can produce at a high level when targeting elite receivers. He knows how to put it on them. Now, the question is whether he can replicate that success with a Saints receiving corps that features two premier pass-catchers (Chris Olave and Michael Thomas). If he can, he'll end up on this list again next summer. — Shook
Further than Carr, the wideouts should succeed in this offense in a big way. Chris Olave has proven to be a deep threat. His speed is elite, and his elusiveness should be on full display. His potential is through the roof.
As for Rashid Shaheed, everyone knows his big play ability after last season. It seemed like every offensive touch for him was a massive gain of yardage or a touchdown. He is a dynamite weapon for the Saints, and Carr's arm could unlock his full potential.
Keep an eye on this duo this season for New Orleans.
