The Dallas Cowboys have built a reputation for being one of the most productive offenses in the NFL. Although offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has moved on, the addition of Brian Schottenheimer to replace him and head coach Mike McCarthy calling plays should have the Cowboys in a good spot.

Dallas has been able to put up such gaudy numbers because of players like wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. 2022 was his best outing yet as he logged 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns.

A huge chunk of that outstanding production for Lamb was done in the slot. When Pro Football Focus broke down the most productive receivers from the inside, Lamb was at the top of the list.

"Lamb has easily become Dallas' No. 1 target, and he got it done on the outside in 2021 before returning to more of the slot role last season. He finished both seasons with a top-10 receiving grade, posting 84.8 and 87.0 marks, respectively.

"Lamb recorded 972 yards in the slot, which led all receivers in the league. Kupp, St. Brown and Lamb are a step ahead of everyone else when it comes to creating production from the slot."-Braxton Howard, PFF

All Lamb did last season was remind the world of how dominant he was in the slot as a rookie in 2020. That year Lamb had 69 receptions for 877 yards in the slot which was the most by any rookie since 2006. Lamb also led the NFL in receptions over 20 yards from the inside with 12 that season.

Lamb will be able to continue putting cornerbacks in a blender in the slot even more now because of one thing,  the addition of Brandin Cooks.

Sure, at 5'10" and 183 pounds with 4.3 speed, Cooks is an ideal slot threat and he has been productive there. But throughout his career, Cooks has over 2,000 more snaps as an outside receiver so he and Michael Gallup will mostly handle duties on the outside and Lamb can keep eating in the slot.

Not only did the Cowboys not lose much in the trade for Cooks but they instantly put Lamb back in his best spot.
