It has not taken very long for Indianapolis Colts quarterback to make a big impression with his new team. The rookie quarterback was drafted with a ton of hype behind him, and all that he has done so far is raise the excitement.
Richardson is a big-armed quarterback with elite athleticism at the position. He can burn defenses through the air and on the ground, which makes his fit with offensive-minded head coach Shane Steichen even more intriguing.
Thus far in OTAs, Richardson has showcased some of the skill that has many buzzing. In fact, the hype and attention have reached ESPN. ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler stated that Richardson has been "dazzling" during practices.
"The word dazzling comes up a little bit when you talk to people about Richardson, especially in Indianapolis," Fowler said on ESPN. "And that was expected, right? He can make that wow play. Coming around the draft, that's why he was considered largely a tier-one quarterback."
Richardson wowing people around the organization and showing off his natural traits shouldn't come as a surprise, but it's still encouraging nonetheless. Obviously, the Colts are optimistic about what Richardson can become for their franchise.
"Certainly he's got some work to do as a young player, but he's put his best foot forward," continued Fowler. "He's absorbed the playbook well, and he's had those dazzling wow moments in practice where you say 'Ok, we certainly have something.'"
There's a chance that the Indianapolis Colts be patient with Anthony Richardson. After all, the team did bring in Gardner Minshew. However, Richardson is going to make it difficult to keep him off the field too long.
