Defensive end Dre'Mont Jones was always meant to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks brought him over Denver Broncos on a three-year deal worth over $51 million. So on Thursday, when Jones spoke to reporters, he let it be known that he plans to outplay that $51-million price tag.

"My approach has been the same since I got to the NFL, kind of playing out there with the chip on my shoulder," Jones said. "This contract kind of proves my worth, but I know I got more to prove and more to do. I'm trying to get on Bobby [Wagner's] level."

Jones will play alongside Bobby Wagner on the defense, who he says has shown immense leadership throughout the early offseason team activities.

"It's been fun man," Jones said. "Great leader, great personality. The football stuff comes later, but just to get to know him right now as a person, he's a good dude."

Jones also praised defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt, whom he believes can take the defense to the next level.

"I can see Coach Hurtt being one of those All-Time great coaches when he's done," Jones said. "He has a voice with the players, a voice with the team. People who respect what he says and take account of what he says. I've enjoyed playing under him so far."

As of right now, Jones is learning the Seahawks' system and is focusing on taking it in and making a good impression.

And once training camp starts, Jones is eager to show that he has more to prove.
