The Detroit Lions have assembled a dangerous group of pass catchers capable of taking the NFL by storm in 2023. With that being said, there is one Pro Bowl wide receiver not named DeAndre Hopkins who Detroit should kick the tires on.

This time last offseason plenty of analysts were raving about the season Hunter Renfrow put together in Las Vegas. Fast forward one year later and there is a growing sense that Renfrow could be traded prior to training camp.

Renfrow recorded career highs in receptions (103), receiving yards (1,038) and receiving touchdowns (9) in 2021. He received his first and only Pro Bowl bid in his four-year career.

Renfrow’s numbers took a major hit in 2022. He’s coming off a season in which he registered just 36 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games – all career lows. His role in the offense was diminished as the Raiders brought in Davante Adams. He also spent time on the Injured Reserve list with an oblique injury.

Las Vegas signed receivers Jakobi Myers and Deandre Carter this offseason, which likely buries Renfrow deeper on the depth chart. With just one year left on his contract, the Lions should be able to pry him away from the Raiders without being forced to give up a high draft pick.

Renfrow makes even more sense for the Lions who will be without James Williams for the first six games of the regular season. If Detroit is committed to creating a dynamic passing attack, general manager Brad Holmes must put in a call to the raiders’ brass at the bare minimum.
