Jacksonville Jaguars HC responds to questions about DeAndre Hopkins during final week of OTAs.

Like many other of the top teams in the AFC, the Jacksonville Jaguars have been suggested by fans, media members, and even oddsmakers as a potential landing spot for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The three-time first-team All-Pro wide receiver recently became available when the Arizona Cardinals released him in an effort to get rid of his scheduled $19.45 million salary.

These days, Hopkins is looking for a new team ahead of the 2023 NFL season. Asked about his thoughts on the veteran's availability, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson confessed it's not a possibility the team is looking into right now.

"We've got a really good (WR) room right now," Pederson told reporters on Monday. "And it's hard to hard to add someone of his caliber and his talent to a room, that is already talented."

The Jaguars are indeed in a position in which wide receiver is one of their most crowded rooms. And that's a good thing. In fact, it's the best reason an NFL team can have to not want to target a free agent of Hopkins' caliber.

With a projected starting trio of Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones, it would be difficult to figure out offensive snaps distribution considering the contract Hopkins is reportedly seeking at this time.

In a recent report for The Athletic, insider Tim Graham cited two league executives who believe Hopkins is eyeing a deal similar to OBJ's $15M contract with the Baltimore Ravens. Graham added that the receiver's "preferred passer won’t supersede his preferred payout."

"You consider everything but at this time, it's not a reality for us to bring someone like that," the Jaguars head coach added.
