One of the battles on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster is at the kicker position, with Jake Verity and Chase McLaughlin taking part.

Well, as of Wednesday, it's a one-man show. Per KPRC2's Aaron Wilson, the Bucs waived Verity.

It's not a very big surprise. Head coach Todd Bowles recently commented on how impressive McLaughlin has been and the veteran kicker is one of the NFL's best kickers from 50+. He tends to struggle from 40-49 yards out, however, which is something he must improve upon in 2023.

"Very strong leg. Very strong leg. He’s been accurate out here," Bowles told reporters Tuesday. "It’ll be interesting to see once the wind starts blowing because he’s been in a dome – but he’s been very impressive so far.”

The Bucs signed McLaughlin to a one-year deal back in March. They've yet to make a corresponding move, but obviously, there is still time to do that. The roster is currently at 89 players after the move, but, the team would be better off adding a veteran tackle to come in and compete for the swing tackle position.
