The Indianapolis Colts aren't being viewed as a potential playoff team in 2023 by most analysts, but that might be a big mistake.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are the favorites in the AFC South, but the division is essentially wide open with the Houston Texans in the midst of a rebuild and the Tennessee Titans trending in the wrong direction.

Indianapolis went 4-12-1 last season, but they were better than their record indicated. The Colts lost six of their games by just one score.

Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor is confident that Indy will make some noise in 2023. And he feels that way in part because of rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Taylor told Horseshoe Huddle this past week that it's going to get "scary" for opposing defenses because of Richardson's elite abilities.

"You look at the guys that are in the league now, he reminds me of Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson," said Taylor. "Looking at the size component, you’d throw Cam Newton in there as well. He’s a physical threat."

"With today’s NFL coaching, Richardson will take the mental component of his game to the next level," added Taylor. "Coach Shane Steichen is a tremendous guy for our job. Like I mentioned earlier, as long as he [Richardson] comes in willing to absorb the information, it’s going to get real scary out there on the field for opposing defenses."

Every year it seems like a team pops up out of nowhere to become a contender. Can that be the Colts in 2023?

Taylor certainly thinks it can be. And he sent a loud message to the rest of the NFL to not sleep in Indy this fall.
