The Houston Texans will have several new faces in the locker room in 2023. One of the most active teams in free agency, Houston added several new starters this offseason.

One position group, wide receiver, was almost completely overhauled this offseason. Brandin Cooks, Chris Moore, and Phillip Dorsett were all shown the door, while Robert Woods, Noah Brown, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, and Steven Sims were all brought in.

However, ESPN's Mike Clay is still not a believer in the WR room in Houston.

Clay ranked all 32 receiver groups and put the Texans at No. 30, ahead of only the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons.

While the overall talent has increased in Houston, the team still lacks a true No. 1 receiver. Perhaps Collins, Metchie, or Dell can become that, but as of now, this group is without elite talent.

Woods has historically been a solid secondary option for an offense. The veteran has twice gone over the 1,000-yard mark, but struggled in 2022 with the Titans. Collins had the third-most targets on the team last year, finishing with 37 catches for 481 yards and two touchdowns. Brown, similarly to Collins, has shown flashes as the third or fourth option in an offense, but that's about it thus far. Sims will likely be purely a special teamer.

John Metchie III and rookie Tank Dell could be the x-factors here. Metchie is essentially a rookie after missing the entire 2022 season after being diagnosed with Leukemia. A healthy Metchie could completely transform Houston's offense, as the speedy receiver looked like a lock to be a first-round pick before a devastating injury in the 2021 SEC Championship Game

If Metchie is fully healthy and Dell adapts to the NFL game, the Texans could end up much higher in Clay's rankings next season.
