The Chicago Bears upgraded a handful of different position groups over the last couple of months this offseason. With that being said, general manager Ryan Poles still has plenty of work to do in order to return the Bears back to postseason relevancy.

The most noteworthy addition of the offseason came in the form of WR D.J. Moore who came over in Chicago’s blockbuster trade sending the No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. By himself, Moore upgraded the Bears struggling wide receivers room significantly.

Interestingly enough, ESPN”s NFL analyst Mike Clay still has his concerns over the Bears group of receivers. On Monday, Clay released his NFL rankings for the position group, which Bears fans could certainly find a gripe with.

The five receivers he used for Chicago were Moore, Chase Claypool, Darnell Mooney, Equanimeous St. Brown and Velus Jones Jr. Now, that group could change after training camp, especially considering the team re-signed Dante Pettis and drafted speedster Tyler Scott.

The Bears deserve more credit than they are getting from Clay. Teams such as the Jaguars, Jets and Commanders have no place in front of Chicago. Though Mooney and Claypool both struggled at times last year, it feels like Clay is a prisoner of the moment while not factoring in the total of body work.

While these lists are fun to look at and compare after events such as the NFL draft, it’s impossible to accurately rank all 32 groups. Justin Fields should feel confident in this particular group of wideouts, while also having great tight ends like Cole Kmet and Robert Tonyan to fall back on in the redzone, and that’s really all that matters.
