The Chicago Bears added plenty of talent through the 2023 NFL Draft with a total of 10 selections. Chicago held rookie minicamp over the weekend which featured a handful of interesting matchups between some of the team’s highly touted rookies.

One matchup that should pique the interest of Bears fans was between second-round pick CB Tyrique Stevenson and Chicago’s fourth-round wide receiver in Tyler Scott. Stevenson’s size and strength on the outside played a major factor into the Bears’ decision to draft him while Scott’s elite speed caught the eyes of many at the combine.

Stevenson described their reps against each other as mutually beneficial.

“Definitely did good," Stevenson said of matchup up with Scott. "I know he’s quick and I know he’s fast. Me being able to get my hands on him a couple of times kind of threw him off. I’m a little bit bigger than him so I don’t he definitely don’t want me to touch him. But he definitely did good with his releases off the line. He gave me some work today and I gave him some work today.”

Iron sharpens iron. Bears fans hope these two will be lining up across from each other in practice for years to come. Each player possesses a certain strength that could be considered a weakness for their counterpart. With more time together, each player should become more well-rounded.

There will be loads of new storylines when training camp rolls around, but these two players will be in the thick of some significant position battles. Stevenson will fight for a starting role at cornerback while Scott hopes to open the season in a rotational role in Chicago’s much-improved wide receivers room. Bears fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
