The Dallas Cowboys' 2023 schedule for the NFL regular season is official. And it provides at least three clear-cut "Revenge Game" candidates. Let's dive right into them.

For the purposes of this article, I'm ruling out divisional games because that would be… well, boring. We know the Cowboys want to beat the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants and they want to do the same.

Instead, we'll focus on three non-divisional games that could result in the Cowboys celebrating wins that are best served cold.

Week 2: vs. New York Jets Aaron Rodgers

Okay… the Cowboys don't have any sort of ongoing "beef" going on with the Jets. But let's keep it real. Rodgers has pretty much owned Dallas over the years. Sure, Dak Prescott's rookie season gave us a shocking win at Lambeau Field back in 2016 but for the most part, Rodgers has stacked up wins against the Cowboys at almost the same rate that he has stacked up MVP trophies.

Even if his uniform colors have changed, a win against the guy would feel pretty nice. And you can't convince me you didn't think about it when the schedule dropped. Some things never change, no matter what jersey your rival is wearing.

The good news: Rodgers will be just one game into the regular season with a completely new team and getting used to new receivers and a new offensive line. The Cowboys will catch him early in the adaptation process.

Week 5: @ San Francisco 49ers

Well, this has to be a self-explanatory one. Forget about the 90s rivalry. That's in the past. The truth is the 49ers are the new Aaron Rodgers to the Cowboys' latest playoff appearances. They've eliminated Dallas twice in back-to-back years and this is a chance early in the season for the Cowboys to prove why things can be different this year.

The good news: Can the Cowboys catch projected starting quarterback Brock Purdy in an early sophomore slump? It might happen. It still feels like we really don't know who the 2022 Mr. Irrelevant is. He didn't do much against Dan Quinn's defense last year and if the Cowboys maintain the pressure they had going on early in the Divisional Round, they can get away with the win.

Week 6: @ Los Angeles Chargers

Well, okay. I'll admit I'm cheating with this one. This isn't a Cowboys revenge game. This is a Kellen Moore revenge game. Sure, both sides "mutually parted ways" but we know the Cowboys know Kellen know what was up. Despite the statistically successful seasons under Moore, it was time for Mike McCarthy to take over the offense and freshen things up a bit.

Moore gets a chance to prove the Cowboys made the wrong decision. McCarthy gets a shot to prove his version of the West Coast offense still works in the NFL.

The good news: While the storyline behind this game will focus on the quarterbacks and the offensive architects on each franchise, the Cowboys defense is much better than the Chargers' counterpart. And home-field advantage? In Los Angeles? It belongs to the Cowboys.
