The Detroit Lions have an interesting dilemma on offense in 2023; they need their offense to be firing on all cylinders to have the best chance of reaching their potential on the year, but they also have one player that will be under a mountain of pressure and scrutiny as a new starter.

As it stands, it looks like rookie tight end Sam LaPorta could be a legitimate options as a starter for the NFC North-favorite Lions.

LaPorta has a lot to like in his game with his sure hands and talent with the ball, but rookie tight ends have a bit of a bad stigma in recent years.

Tight end is traditionally one of the hardest positions for a rookie in the league to play. The demands of the position mixed with the required versatility make it hard to see immediate production from the position, especially on the fantasy football standpoint.

However, Sam LaPorta may be one of the rare options that could break this mold according to fantasy football analyst. Ryan O'Connor.

O'Connor lists LaPorta has the tenth tight end in the entire NFL for Dynasty and PPR leagues, and that is saying something special about what LaPorta projects to do.

Not only does this show a belief that LaPorta actually brings something to the table as a rookie, which is a massive vote of confidence, but it also shows that LaPorta's skillsets will lead to longterm success for Detroit as well.

Lions fans may still want to hold off before they get too far ahead of themselves with LaPorta as a weapon, but this is a nice reminder that the media as a whole really respects the offense for Detroit.
