Although the 2023 NFL season won't kickoff for a few more months, there is already a ton of buzz coming from the Indianapolis Colts. The most recent developments are extremely encouraging for year-one under Shane Steichen.

The franchise is banking on rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson thriving on the professional level. He didn't put everything together while at Florida, but Richardson possesses all of the raw traits that suggest a high ceiling in Indianapolis.

Fellow Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew, who is very familiar with Steichen's scheme, has been impressed with Richardson this offseason. The veteran signal caller offered some encouraging words regarding the first-year passer.

Minshew actually worked out and trained with Richardson leading up to the draft. Therefore, he has seen what the Florida quarterback can do while up-close and personal over the last few months. Meaning his words hold some weight.

“Obviously, the first thing is just how impressive – the ball jumps out of his hand. Physically, you’ve got everything you want," Minshew said of Richardson. "So, from that standpoint, just seeing him is like, ‘Wow, this dude’s really got a chance.’

Richarson features a strong arm and eye-catching frame, so it's no surprise that Minshew has noticed both of those things from the jump. With that said, the former Jaguars and Eagles quarterback has been around Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts in his career, which makes him being impressed by Richardson mean even more.

And it's not just on the field where Minshew has been impressed. He has also seen how Richardson works when others aren't watching and how he handles coaching when training.

"Then getting around him and seeing how he works, how he takes criticism and wants to learn and get better, all of those things are really, really encouraging to be around," said Minshew.

Anthony Richardson won't play in a game environment until the preseason in August. However, it's clear that it has not taken long for him to make a big impression on one of his closest teammates.
