For all the hoopla the defense of the Dallas Cowboys gets, and rightfully so, people sometimes forget that their offense is no slouch either.

With Dak Prescott at quarterback, a three-headed monster at wide receiver, and the explosive Tony Pollard at running back, the Cowboys should continue being one of the top-scoring offenses in the NFL, something they've done better than any team over the past three seasons (29.3 points per game).

Cynthia Frelund of NFL Network recently listed her top-10 offenses for the upcoming season based on projected win shares. That measures the ability of each player, position group, and side of the ball to earn or prevent first downs, points, and touchdowns.

Based on this study, the Cowboys' offense ranked 5th with a win share of 7.9 for the upcoming season.

The additions of Brandin Cooks, Ronald Jones and rookie tight end Luke Schoonmaker forecast to more than make up for the win-share loss caused by the exits of Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliott and Noah Brown. Cooks will make fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb even more effective. RoJo and Tony Pollard will help offset the loss of Zeke at running back. And Schoonmaker is poised to be one of the bigger steals of the 2023 NFL Draft, given the likelihood that his injury history — and not a lack of talent — is what pushed him into the second round, despite his college film suggesting he should have been a first-round pick.

Lamb, Cooks, and Michael Gallup are going to force a lot of single coverage for each other based on the threat they provide. That will also open things up for the tight ends as well as the running game because defenses will have to stay honest.

The Cowboys are going through a bit of a transition with former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore now with the Los Angeles Chargers. However, with the talent they have plus Mike McCarthy and new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer running things, Dallas will be excellent offensively in 2023.
