Davante Adams, the star receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, showed the NFL world that his success wasn't tied to former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Yet, recently, Adams has made headlines for his criticism of the Raiders' front office, which he believes isn't taking steps forward to build a contending roster as opposed to veering toward rebuilding. The criticism of the front office led many to believe that Adams could be traded soon, but in a recent Vic Talfu Raiders mailbag in The Athletic, the rumor of a possible trade was shut down for contract rationale.

“Adams has a dead cap hit of $31.4 million if traded this year and $23.6 million if traded next year, so that’s not in the cards right now,” Talfu wrote.

So, though a trade is not directly in the works, Talfu did note that it is unlikely the Raiders' star receiver will still be a Raider near the end of his current contract.

“Adams, 30, doesn’t have time for a rebuild," he wrote. "He signed a five-year contract last year but knows he won’t be around in 2025 when the salary cap hit spikes to $44 million.”

It appears the Raiders have two years to build a legitimate winner around Adams. Last season, he showed that he could play well regardless of who was starting at the quarterback position.

In the 2022 season, with the uncertainty of Derek Carr, Adams managed to tally 100 receptions (ninth), 1,516 yards (third), and 14 touchdowns (first). It was by no means a disappointing season.

Following the numerous shots Adams sent at the front office, he is waiting to see if the Raiders' brain trust can put together a legitimate winner while he is still in the prime of his career.
