Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton made quite the claim about his former UT teammate Jalin Hyatt on Tuesday.

Hyatt, a third-round selection by the New York Giants in the 2023 NFL Draft, arrived at Tennessee as a member of the Vols' 2020 recruiting class with the reputation for being a speedster.

And he more than lived up to that reputation.

Hyatt routinely cruised past SEC defensive backs during his time at Tennessee. In the Vols' 52-49 win against Alabama this past season, Hyatt caught five touchdown passes from Hendon Hooker. Three of his touchdown receptions featured the dominant wide receiver racing past Alabama defenders.

On Tuesday, Milton, who was teammates with Hyatt for two seasons at Tennessee, appeared on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" and suggested that Miami Dolphins wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle are no longer the fastest players in the NFL. Instead, he believes that Hyatt deserves that moniker.

Hyatt only ran a 4.40 in the 40-yard dash at the draft combine earlier this year. But the former Vols superstar was dealing with a bum hamstring at the time. If healthy, most scouts agree that Hyatt is in the 4.3 range with a shot to get in the 4.29 range.

And that would definitely put Hyatt in the Hill/Waddle conversation. I don't know for sure who would win a race between the three speedy wide receivers, but that doesn't really matter. What matters is that Hyatt is poised to be one of the most dangerous deep threats in the NFL the moment he steps onto the field for the first time.
