The Kansas City Chiefs have a looming issue on the offensive line – no one seems to know who will play either tackle position when the season kicks off.

The questions loom at the fact that they signed Jawaan Taylor to a big contract to play left tackle when he never has. Then they drafted a right tackle in Wanya Morris in the third round. And shortly after the draft, they signed Donovan Smith, a left tackle.

You can also factor in that right tackle Lucas Niang is battling for the spot too. Now we are a little lost and don't really know what to expect. What we do know is that head coach Andy Reid feels good about the whole situation.

"A few practices he was at the left tackle and Niang worked in at the right tackle, feel good about him too," Reid said to reporters on Wednesday. "So, we're in a good place, I think. I believe he [Taylor] can do both. So I don't think that's a problem. He got a few snaps at that but we got, we've got two veteran guys that have a lot of snaps under their belt at a high level. So we felt comfortable with that. We just see, we expect the, the guys behind him to compete and, we should be fine there."

Well, it's good to know he feels good about the situation because there are a lot of media and fans who don't have that same feeling. Do I think the offensive line will be as bad as it was in the Super Bowl in 2020? No. I don't even think their floor is that bad.

However, the position at hand in this discussion is the left tackle, which protects Patrick Mahomes' blind side, and if there isn't a quality guy in that position, it can get worse. Chad Henne can't save this team when Mahomes gets hurt again because Henne is no longer in the league.

This could very well be coach talk by Reid, which is what caches do just to hide anything. Some coaches will tell you straight up when there is a problem, and some coaches will just hide from it and lie and say they feel fine. I genuinely think Reid feels good about the situation as a whole.

One thing we can't deny is that they have depth at the two positions.
