The Indianapolis Colts have some solid depth and talent at tight end for head coach Shane Steichen to work with. Which is ideal, as Steichen loves to incorporate tight ends in the passing and running games.

Veteran Mo Allie-Cox and the emerging Jelani Woods get most of the recognition at the position. And rightfully so, as both have shown to be big weapons through the air. The two scored three touchdowns each last year as Indianapolis worked through different quarterbacks.

But there's another tight end on the roster that is making a strong impression during offseason team activities. Kylen Granson has had himself a week and is turning heads at practice for the Colts.

The third-year player has played both of his first two seasons in the league with the Colts. He has played in 30 games over the past two years, making 42 receptions for 408 yards.

This week, Steichen talked glowingly of Granson. Granson hauled in a deep ball for a touchdown from Anthony Richardson during 7-on-7 in practice on Thursday. Steichen has been impressed about what the tight end brings to the table.

Furthermore, the media took notice of Granson, too. Meaning it was not just coach speak and hyping a player up. Colts insider James Boyd of The Athletic tabbed Granson as the standout player from practice.

Granson made his presence felt the most Thursday, regardless of who was in at quarterback. The third-year tight end caught passes all over the field and displayed the speed and versatility that made him a fourth-round pick in 2021.

Kylen Granson emerging would be a huge development for the Indianapolis Colts. After all, the priority for the offense is to surround Anthony Richardson with playmakers. Early this offseason, Granson is fitting that bill.
