It has been an active – and seemingly successful – offseason for the Indianapolis Colts to this point. From hiring a new head coach in Shane Steichen to drafting a franchise quarterback in Anthony Richardson, a lot has happened in Indy.

As a result, the franchise is entering a new era that is generating excitement and optimism for the fan base. And it's not just the fan base that is taking notice of what the Colts have done. The national media is paying attention.

Pro Football Focus graded the offseason for all 32 teams as the calendar inches closer to the summer months. PFF analyst Sam Monson came away a fan of what general manager Chris Ballard and the Colts have accomplished.

Monson handed out one of the highest grades to the Colts, giving Indianapolis an A-minus. Unsurprisingly, a big part of that grade is due to the Anthony Richardson selection. But Monson also liked a free agent acquisition, too.

Indianapolis added defensive end Samson Ebukam to the roster in hopes of bolstering the pass rush. Ebukam comes over from the San Francisco 49ers and should provide a boost for defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.

Samson Ebukam adds yet more talent to an already good defensive front, but the Colts' offseason was all about the draft. Anthony Richardson represents a swing for the fences at the quarterback position after several seasons of the team trying to play it safe with veterans. Richardson pairs with a new head coach who understands how to tap into quarterback rushing, having just done so in Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts.

As Monson points out about Richardson, the Florida product looks to be in good hands with Shane Steichen. Steichen played a big role in developing Jalen Hurts and has created a quarterback-friendly scheme.

Additionally, PFF likes how the Colts priortized adding athletes to the roster in the draft. From Richardson in the first to Julius Brents in the second to multiple day-three selections, Ballard clearly had a big objective in mind.

The Colts also picked 12 times and made a continuous push to target super athletes with their selections. Blake Freeland at tackle and Adetomiwa Adebawore on the defensive line were among the best athletes in the draft but need polish to make an impact in the NFL. Josh Downs could add a valuable missing skill set to the receiver room given his quickness and production in college.

On paper, it's easy to like what the Indianapolis Colts have done since the end of the 2022 NFL season. The franchise has a fresh start at head coach and quarterback, and the Colts made some serious moves to help in both departments.
