The New York Giants completed a very productive 2023 NFL Draft this past weekend. The roster looks better than it did a week ago, and they are excited about their rookies for this year and beyond.
As for right now, what else is there to do for their roster? The NFC East is a 'beast' for them to contend in, but they believe in their personnel and staff. They can still improve, though.
A few more veteran additions in this wave of free agency could really round the roster out for the Giants. These three make a ton of sense for New York.
Oshane Ximines, Edge Rusher
Reunion alert! The Giants would be smart to bring back a player that they know is a scheme fit for some veteran depth. Ximines totaled 24 tackles and two sacks last season in limited playing time. He is a fluid athlete off the edge, and Wink Martindale loves that in his defense.
After not receiving a deal during the first wave of free agency, his price may have dropped. The Giants could slide in and grab him on a solid, short-term deal.
Gabe Jackson, Offensive Guard
Jackson would be great veteran depth on the offensive line for the Giants. Their starting unit is a younger one among the NFL, and Jackson is a proven player.
He isn't the player that he was earlier in his career, but his baseline talent is still better than most of the other free-agent options on the interior of the offensive line. Jackson allowed just three sacks in over 900 snaps last year.
Bryce Callahan, Cornerback
Callahan has been an underrate talent in the secondary throughout his career. At 31, not too many teams may be in on him. That shouldn't stop the Giants, though. He can still play physically at CB, and he has inside-outside versatile between the boundary and the slot. He'd play the slot for New York most likely, though.
The Giants drafted Deonte Banks in round one of the draft, but adding more cornerback depth shouldn't be off their radar. Callahan totaled three interceptions last season. That was a career high.
