Sure, some of their choices in the draft were good. But, overall, I'd say they made some of the wrong decisions. Let's start with the pick of Marvin Mims, who will be a great football player. But, they didn't need a wide receiver that bad, and especially didn't need him with their first overall pick.
There were so many other needs. They have needs across their entire roster before you even remotely get to the need for a wide receiver. Yet, they didn't really address it, and one Broncos expert noticed the same, and actually called them out for it in a recent article.
The Broncos did not significantly address their offensive line in the draft. Denver invested heavily at that spot in free agency by signing guard Ben Powers and tackle Mike McGlinchey to lucrative multiyear deals, so there was not a need for an instant impact starter. Still, it is somewhat surprising that Denver did not add more depth, particularly on the interior, before selecting Oregon center Alex Forsyth with the third-to-last pick of the draft. The guards and centers behind presumed starters Powers, Lloyd Cushenberry, and Quinn Meinerz have a combined 13 games of starting experience. — Nick Kosmider, The Athletic
The Denver Broncos needed a guard in this draft. They needed a guy who can play behind Meinerz because right now they don't have any depth at right guard. And, they had so many opportunities to grab anyone. It's not even like they attempted to draft one and did it late in the draft. No, that would have been better than what they did. Instead, they drafted a receiver because as Sean Payton and George Paton said, "He was one of two elite punt returners in the country."
If hearing that doesn't make you even more frustrated then I don't know what will. They butchered this draft after having such a great free agency. Drew Sanders and Riley Moss were two picks that I think were fine. Other than that, I'd like for them to get a redo.
