Former Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Byron Young was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft last week by the Los Angeles Rams.

Young played two seasons at Tennessee before landing with the Rams.

During his two seasons in Knoxville, Young totaled 12.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss while displaying elite athleticism.

Most Vols fans are aware of Young's story by now. The Georgia native worked as an assistant manager at Dollar General for 18 months after high school. He eventually landed with Georgia Military College via a tryout.

Young earned a scholarship offer to Tennessee despite his 2020 season at Georgia Military College getting canceled due to COVID-19.

The talented edge rusher has had to endure plenty of obstacles to get where he's at, but he'll get a chance to prove himself in the NFL this fall — something that seemed impossible for Young when he was working at Dollar General.

Dollar General hasn't forgotten about Young. The Tennessee-based company, which was founded in Kentucky, sent a message to Young on Thursday that congratulated the former Vol on getting drafted by the Rams.

Sports often provide the most beautiful stories and I'd say this one certainly qualifies.
