The Indianapolis Colts have a new face at quarterback. Indianapolis selected Florida signal caller Anthony Richardson at No. 4 overall, making him the face of the franchise moving forward.
Richardson is expected to be a great fit with first-year head coach Shane Steichen. In addition to drafting Richardson, the Colts signed veteran Gardner Minshew in free agency. Minshew has experience playing in Steichen's offense.
Additionally, the Colts have Sam Ehlinger, who started multiple games last season, on the roster. Now, the Colts have made another move at quarterback. This time, the team made the decision to release Nick Foles as rookie minicamp kicks off.
Indianapolis signed Foles last offseason to a two-year deal. He started two games for the Colts last season, passing for 224 yards and four interceptions. With the other acquisitions at quarterback, this was an expected move for the Colts.
Foles won a Super Bowl MVP while with the Philadelphia Eagles after filling in for Carson Wentz late in the 2017 season. Since then, Foles has bounced around the league, playing for the Jaguars and Bears, in addition to Indianapolis.
With the latest news, the Colts are back at three quarterbacks on the roster with Richardson, Minshew, and Ehlinger making up the three-deep behind center. That is the group that Steichen will work with during his first season at the helm in Indy.
The release of Foles continues to show that the Colts are all-in on their first-round selection of Richardson. Richardson is already making a strong impression with Indianapolis as his career officially gets underway.
