Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson kept it real with fans during an interview on NFL Network on Friday.
The Jaguars are set to become the first-ever team to play back-to-back international games as they'll play the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills in 2023. The historic development will be a fun bit of Jags trivia for years to come.
But for Pederson, it's clear why it's more than just that and he explained why the trip to London is already a win despite being months removed from game time abroad.
"It's good for our team to obviously showcase themselves," said Pederson before adding a more tangible reason to be excited about the news. "I'd rather play Buffalo in London than maybe in Buffalo at the end of the season."
Pederson is completely right, of course. Bills Mafia brings it every game but so does the weather. For a team based in Florida, avoiding a trip like that is always good news.
Not to mention, the Bills will be one of the Jaguars' toughest rivals on the schedule. Having that be a neutral-site game instead of a true away match-up has to be considered a win.
I'll say this, however: I would've loved to watch Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence go at it on Primetime. But if things go according to plan, we might get to see that in the playoffs.
In the meantime, it's a good thing for the NFL to take two of the league's best quarterbacks to an international showdown. Gotta respect it.
