During the 2023 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks added much-needed depth to the offensive line.

One of those selections was Michigan Center Olusegun Oluwatimi, who, in the rookie minicamp, has already impressed Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll with what he has to offer.

“Well, we’ve always cherished the guy that can kind of be the play-caller up front in the middle, and Olu’s got that background,” Carroll told reporters over the weekend. “He jumped into the Michigan thing and, took over, overwhelmed the country a little bit with his play at center, and got all those awards and acclaim and all of that. And you can see why.”

On the table for the former Michigan standout is an opportunity to claim the starting center position out of the gate. That will come down to how he competes throughout the summer, but Carroll expressed that his physical measurements and athleticism are already worth noting moving forward.

“Yeah, he’s a really bright kid,” Carroll continued. “He’s got all the physicals. He weighed in at 319. He looked terrific.”

The challenge of being an instant contributor is something Oluwatimi wants to embrace. He was drafted to be a difference-maker, and he is welcoming the necessity to back up the talk with action.
