In the days leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft, there were several insiders who suggested that Tennessee Vols offensive lineman Darnell Wright had some "character concerns".

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler was one of the insiders who suggested that Wright, who was selected with the No. 10 overall pick by the Chicago Bears, had character issues.

Tennessee fans were surprised by the reports as Wright never had any issues and Fowler and other insiders didn't specify the root of the character concerns.

It turns out that the reason Wright's character concerns were incredibly silly, which is why Vols fans were confused.

The website "Sports Mockery" attempted to find the origin of Wright's character concerns and all they managed to find was where the former Vol showed up at Tennessee a bit overweight in 2020.

It's true that Wright showed up a bit heavier than expected in the summer of 2020, but some context is important. 2020 was a strange year that impacted everyone differently because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. I think Wright, who was a rising sophomore at the time, can be excused for not being in the best shape of his life in the middle of a pandemic that took a toll on everyone.

Wright was nothing but spectacular at Tennessee. And he proved to be one of the hardest workers in the SEC — which is one of the reasons why Wright was a top 10 pick in last month's draft.

Bears rookie defensive lineman D'Anthony Jones, in fact, has already been impressed by Wright's work ethic since arriving in Chicago.

"The work ethic I've seen you know, I was looking over there peeping, let's be honest, I'm just seeing like everything he (Wright) did was 100 percent attacking it," said Jones on the "Irish Bears Show" last week. "Doesn't look tired in camp, coming in at full speed. You know, 100 percent every time. And I was thinking you know what, that is why he went as high as he did (in the draft). And I have to show that same thing."

Often, the character concerns with players ahead of the draft are valid, but they were clearly incorrect when it comes to Wright.
