The Detroit Lions are headed to training camp this week. Football is almost back. In fact, we'll have pre-season game in just a few weeks. Until then, it's time to get a little crazy. Let's get bold.
Lots of things can happen during training camps. Some guys come out of nowhere, others who were expected to take a next step fall down the roster and everything in between. Things are hard to predict. That's why if you're going to make some predictions, they might as well be bold.
Here's five bold predictions that I think could come true at Lions training camp.
Hendon Hooker returns from injury at camp

Let’s start off with a big stretch. The word on Hooker’s injury is that it’s been progressing well. I think it progresses well enough to the point where we see Hooker participate at training camp.
The Lions have shown in the past that they like to take things slow with their rookies coming in off injuries. I think they still do this with Hooker by keeping him out of big things like preseason games, but I think Hooker will be able to put the pads on and run the offense at camp this year. He'll make the 53 man roster instead of starting the year on the injury list. We might even see Hooker come out to take some knees this year.
Brodric Martin earns a big role

The Lions surprised everyone with just about every pick they made in the NFL Draft this past April. One of the more question inducing things the Lions did was trade up to take Western Kentucky’s Brodric Martin. A player that most draft experts going much later in the draft.
What you see on film is a guy that has a violent punch and a lot more agility than you would think. He also thrives in stopping the run. As a matter of fact, he finds teams attempting to run the ball on him to be disrespectful. A run stopper is just what the Lions need. Martin can come out and earn himself a major spot along the Lions interior with Alim McNeil and Isaiah Buggs. I think he'll do just that. To be even more bold, I think he takes over for Buggs by seasons end.
The Lions make one more splash

Now that the DeAndre Hopkins stuff is over, everyone is going to wonder what team is going to make the next splash. I think it’s going to be the Lions and I think it’s going to be the addition of another defensive lineman.
Yannick Ngakoue, Jadeveon Clowney, Matthew Ioannidis and Chris Wormley are all names that the Lions could go after in free agency. Maybe they decide to load up and make a trade. Maybe something crazy like bringing Maxx Crosby back to Michigan could happen. That last one isn't happening by the way. Still, I think the Lions aren't done grabbing talent.
The Lions make a trade

While I don’t think that Maxx Crosby thing will happen, that doesn’t mean I don’t think the Lions will make a trade. Will it be for much more than future draft assets? I don’t know. The Lions have a handful of players that could be moved by the time that camp ends.
Guys like Craig Reynolds, Ifeatu Melifonwu, Trinity Benson and Benito Jones are all guys that could potentially find themselves wanted elsewhere. If the Lions can get anything for these guys over simply cutting them, that's a win.
The other way there could be a trade is that revert back to the last prediction. The Lions make a splash trade during camp and get someone to come in and help them make a run at the division. Either way, I see a trade happening.
The Lions go into the season at full health.

Considering what’s happened to this team over the last two years, there is no prediction more bold than this one. The Lions will go into the season at full health for the first time in a very long time. The biggest spot you’ll see the difference in is the offensive line. We have yet to see this group completely together at full health. I think we see that this year.
