The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to end the narrative about their offense, aiming to be mentioned amongst the best in the league.
That starts with better protection, and more consistent pass catchers, not to mention the development of their QB and play-caller.
So today we're going to highlight the two most important position battles on offense, with one player fighting for his NFL livelihood:
Steelers Training Camp Battle: Offense
Left Tackle: Dan Moore Jr. Vs. Broderick Jones

Only approaching his third season with the team, you can't even call Moore the veteran in this battle, but he is the more experienced of the two and won't go down without a fight.
Moore looked much better this offseason, focusing on better body composition and even taking the initiative to practice both tackle spots, showing ultimate buy-in and proving his want to be a team player.
So while Jones may be the shiny new toy, Moore is aiming to prove Pittsburgh's answer to their problem has been there all along.
Jones is obviously the future of the position, evident not only by his draft status but by his game. A rangy tackle that carries his weight evenly and displays rare athleticism, he is the perfect modern tackle.
But his pass protection lacks nuance and technique, something the Steelers can ill-afford to have when it comes to watching Kenny Pickett's blindside.
Slot WR: Calvin Austin III vs Allen Robinson II

Austin is the younger, and much more dynamic option of the two, with a special suddenness and straight-line speed that eludes Robinson’s skillset. A certified 4.32 runner that has given multiple Pittsburgh corners a case of the hamstring tug this offseason, Austin can stretch the middle of the field like no other.
Robinson may be built like an outside WR but his skillset (especially at this point of his career) is better situated for him to work over the middle of the field.
How well he translates his offseason momentum to camp will be everything for Robinson. Plenty of players have "won" the offseason, only to see things become a bit more pessimistic when the pads come on. Robinson aims to show his resurgence is for real.
So, while Kenny Pickett will have the most eyes on him when camp opens in just five days' time, the battles going on around him are what really matter. Who will be protecting his blindside? Who's going to be the new pass catcher that he builds chemistry with? These questions and many more will begin to be solved starting next week.
