DeAndre Hopkins' visit with the New England Patriots begins on Wednesday and there doesn't appear to be many obstacles standing in the way of the star receiver joining the offense.
There were questions regarding whether there was hostility between Hopkins and new Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien. The two spent time together when O'Brien was the head coach of the Texans and he was actually responsible for trading Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals.
However, those questions have been answered.
ESPN's Dianna Russini reports that any possible bitterness between O'Brien and Hopkins is gone.
"DeAndre Hopkins is expected to visit with the Patriots later today and tomorrow morning, per sources. For those who have raised some concerns about Pats offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien and Hopkins past relationship in Houston, sources have shared there’s no animosity at all," Russini wrote on Twitter.
And with that, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported earlier this month that O’Brien wouldn’t be opposed to working with Hopkins again.
The 31-year-old receiver is entering his 11th year in the league and has not played a full season since 2020. Last season he was suspended for the first six games due to a PED violation, but finished the year with 64 passes for 717 yards with three touchdowns in nine games.
With O'Brien reportedly in favor and many players excited about the potential to work with Hopkins, there isn't much standing in the Patriots way heading into the receivers visit.
