Eagles: A.J. Brown continues to earn his keep in a can't-miss way
Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is one of the best in the league at running one of the most reliable routes in the passing game.
Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown knows how to contribute in the pass-catching game.
And recently, Brown was ranked as the top receiver when it comes to slant route running efficiency by Pro Football Focus in a recent article.
Also on the list was the Cleveland Browns' receiver Amari Cooper, who ranked second. And the Buffalo Bills' superstar Stefon Diggs, who was ranked third.
The rankings breakdown is the following:
1.) A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles: 97.0
2.) Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns: 93.7
3.)Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills: 93.2
And here is a look at PFFs full breakdown:
"A.J. Brown has the combination of size (6-foot-1 and 226 pounds) and speed that allows him to slip through tackles with apparent ease. The Eagles used this to their advantage by featuring Brown on slant routes last year, and he was a nightmare to cover. The fourth-year wideout saw 34 targets on slants last year — 10 more than any other player at the position — and he caught 26 of them for a position-leading 386 yards. In all, 19 of his slant catches went for a first down, and he turned 10 into explosive gains of 15 or more yards. He finished the year averaging 7.72 yards per route run on slants, a full yard more than the next-closest wide receiver."
It isn't shocking that Brown comes in ranked so highly. The connection he had with Jalen Hurts during the 2022 season was one of the driving factors in pushing the Eagles toward the NFL Playoff.
In Brown's second season with the team, he is hoping to continue to build on his slant route running efficiency. And with the security of Hurts being his quarterback for seasons to come, that is a real possibility moving forward.
