There isn't a better rivalry in the NFL right now than the one between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals.
From intense playoff matchups to seemingly endless trash talk, showdowns between the Chiefs and the Bengals never disappoint.
Things should be just as intense as ever in 2023 with the Chiefs looking to become to a dynasty while Joe Burrow and the Bengals have their eye on winning their first Super Bowl.
On Thursday, the Chiefs received their Super Bowl rings that they earned from beating the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII last season.
Seeing the Chiefs receive their Super Bowl rings should serve as locker room motivation for the Bengals.
And if that doesn't do the trick, then Mahomes' comments after receiving his Super Bowl ring will.
Mahomes made it clear on Thursday evening that Kansas City is planning to repeat as Super Bowl champs in 2023.
"I think we can," said Mahomes when asked if the Chiefs can win back to back Super Bowls. "I mean if you look at the team that we are bringing back, I mean a lot of guys that were on that Super Bowl championship team that are just gonna be another year better, another year older. And obviously we celebrate it. You know us — me, Travis, all the guys, we're gonna celebrate. But now, after tonight — we're gonna celebrate again tonight — after tonight, we're gonna get it rolling again and trying to make sure we're ready to go for this next championship run."
There was no trash talk there from Mahomes. But his words should serve as a reminder to the Bengals that they're chasing a team that has plenty of motivation to repeat.
It just feels like these two teams are destined to meet in the playoffs again. I'm sure the Buffalo Bills, among other teams, will have plenty to say about that, but I'd almost be shocked if it's not the Chiefs and the Bengals in the AFC Championship game once again this upcoming season.
