Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is catching a lot of hate on social media for the wrong reason. And to make things even worse, it doesn't even have to do with football.
On Sunday, a clip of him wishing a "Happy Father's Day to all the Bears fans out there, Go Pack Go!" quickly went viral as people claimed it was a failed troll attempt against his AFC North rival. Which – if true – would've been absolutely hilarious. After all, it would've been a very poor follow-up to Rodgers' iconic "I still own you!" moment at Soldier Field.
But a bit of Sherlock Holmes-like investigation (all it took was two clicks on Twitter but still) quickly reveals the Packers quarterback wasn't even trying to troll Bears fans. He was genuinely wishing Bears fans a happy holiday.
Why? Twitter user @ChrisD69007 explained the video was taken at a quarterback camp in Paris, France, where he asked Love to "make a fun video to originally wish the French Bears fans a happy Father's Day."
Chris even tweeted that Bears fans were expecting Justin Fields at the QB Takeover camp but that he wasn't able to make it.
That being said, I'll grant this to those making fun of Love on Twitter: Perhaps some increased PR experience would've allowed him to see how the optics of it were primed to be twisted. Why would a Packers quarterback wish Bears fans a happy Father's Day?
Of course, it's all in good fun. Love (and hopefully, Packers fans) probably understand this will make zero impact when both rivalries face each other in the post-Rodgers era.
