Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen has brought a lot of excitement to the franchise since being hired earlier this offseason. The offensive mind figures to be an ideal fit for Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor.
Steichen helped develop Jalen Hurts into one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the NFL with his scheme over the past two seasons as the Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator. The hope – and expectation – is that Steichen will have the same success with Richardson in Indy.
Now in Indianapolis, Steichen is not dodging the expectations of he and his staff turning things around at the quarterback position. In fact, his latest comments will surely have the fan base fired up for the upcoming season.
“I think the biggest thing I was looking for was the chemistry and the energy, you know what I mean? Really just detailing up what we want to get done offensively and defensively," Steichen said during minicamp. .
The offseason has given Steichen and staff multiple opportunities to work with the players and instill the things that they want to do. He believes that the roster has bought into the messages that are being sent.
"Attention to detail is a big part of what I believe in and I thought the guys did that. We had our ups and downs at moments, but again, bouncing back and not making the same mistake twice was big for those guys," said Steichen. "But was pleased with where everyone is at.”
That's a promising statement from Steichen. If his words are any indication, it's clear that the roster is sold in what Steichen has brought to the franchise. Actions speak louder than words, but the early returns are very positive for the Indianapolis Colts.
