Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers may have inadvertently done the Chicago Bears a big favor this offseason.

Rodgers, who was traded to the New York Jets in April, is one of the most talked about athletes in professional sports.

The former NFL MVP is a lightning rod for media attention thanks to his quirky approach with reporters and his eclectic lifestyle away from the field.

As a result of the intrigue that surrounds Rodgers, there's an extremely good chance that the Jets will be the NFL team featured on HBO's Hard Knocks this fall.

The Jets are one of four teams that can be forced to take part in Hard Knocks, along with the Bears, the New Orleans Saints, and the Washington Commanders.

Chicago has already made it clear that they don't want to be featured on Hard Knocks.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh also made it a point to publicly say that his team doesn't want to be on Hard Knocks.

The Bears would be an attractive choice because of their young talent — Justin Fields could be the next NFL superstar to emerge. But the presence of Rodgers on the Jets' roster makes New York the likely option.

No one else in the NFL is going to command attention like Rodgers. And the NFL is very much aware of that (which is why the Jets have six prime-time games in 2023).

There's no guarantee that it will be the Jets on Hard Knocks this fall, but it would be a surprise if they're not. And that's something the Bears should thank Rodgers for — it could be one less distraction Chicago has to deal with during the preseason.
