Packers can't afford to trade one of their best players even if it makes sense

Jordan Love was drafted by the Green Bay Packers back in 2020 in a trade-up to pick No. 26.

Since then, Love has thrown for less than 100 passes. This was due in large part to Aaron Rodgers remaining a Packer for all those years. Now Rodgers is with the New York Jets and Jordan Love is set to take over as the starting QB for the Packers.

Love is still only 24-years-old, and as we previously mentioned, he has less than 100 passing attempts in his young career.

If you look around the league, what is one thing NFL teams try to surround their young QBs with as they start their NFL career?

If you guessed other talent, you would be correct.

The Packers traded All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams just a little more than a year ago, but they still have some pieces on roster that can help a young QB.

Namely, that help comes from All-Pro left tackle, David Bakhitari, who has been the mainstay for the Packers for the better part of the last decade.

However, more recently, he has been the subject of trade rumors, which would be a mistake.

The Packers already traded away one All-Pro, they should not trade another. Trading a player of Bakhitari's caliber would be a disservice to Love.  Behind Bakhitari, you only have Rasheed Walker, who has only played in one NFL game.

The Packers have a very young core on offense, with Bakhitari being the longest tenured player who is a starter. I get the idea of wanting to trade him away for draft capital and continue the youth movement.

However doing so, would mean you likely would not be able to properly evaluate Love for the year. Someone you just signed to a contract extension. If he's constantly laying on his back due to a lack of pass protection, then the Packers would be doing themselves a major disservice, as well.
