The Dallas Cowboys have averaged 29.3 points per game over the last two seasons, the most in the NFL (led the league with 31.2 in 2021).
Of course, this is a result of having top-tier talent, and it's come from the Cowboys being very astute when it comes to drafting.
CBS recently ranked the NFL's top offensive trios. Landing at No.6 were Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard, and CeeDee Lamb of the Cowboys.
Pollard is at long last the lead back in Dallas, and it looks like his recovery from a fractured ankle has gone well enough that he's been a full participant in the offseason program. If he weren't getting overshadowed by draft-class-mate Justin Jefferson, there would be a whole lot of talk about Lamb getting off to one of the best three-year starts in league history. The only players to match or exceed Lamb's first-three-year totals in receptions (260), receiving yards (3,396) and receiving touchdowns (20) are Jefferson, Odell Beckham Jr., A.J. Green and Michael Thomas. Meanwhile, the people hung up on Prescott's interception total from last season are willfully subjecting themselves to recency bias. Even after last year's disaster, Prescott has the fifth-lowest interception rate among 165 players with 2,000 or more pass attempts in their career. Pollard averaged over five yards per carry for the third time in four years in 2022, and thanks to a near-even split of the attempts with Ezekiel Elliott, he led the Cowboys with 1,007 rushing yards and nine rushing scores, a career-high. Also, Pollard tied a career-best in receptions (39) and set new highs in receiving yards (371) and receiving touchdowns (3).
Lamb outperformed their entire Cowboys receiving corp by himself last season, and that led to the addition of Brandin Cooks. He finished tied for fifth in receptions (107), sixth in yards (1,359), and tied for the fourth-most receiving touchdowns (9).
Prescott had an issue with interceptions last season with 15, but the narrative that he's a turnover-prone player was recently put to bed. Although he didn't play well in the Cowboys' playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas had one of the top offenses in the league in 2022 after Prescott came back from his fractured thumb in Week 7, and he did play lights out in the Cowboys' playoff win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with four touchdown passes.
As long as health is on their side, this trio will make things very difficult for opposing defenses in 2023.
CBS Sports list Cowboys’ top duo for 2023
This is certainly a valid opinion.
