Welcome to the dead zone Detroit Lions fans. OTA's and Mandatory mini camp are over and for the next few weeks, things are going to be quiet in Lions land as we prepare for the start of training camp.

As we make our way towards camp, we're going to do a deep dive into the Lions entire roster. We'll be doing it section by section and player by player and go over the expectations for each player going into camp.

So far we've already covered interior defensive linemen, edge rushers linebackers, cornerbacks and safeties. Today We'll be moving over to the offensive side of the ball with the offensive line.

 Taylor Decker

It's hard to not look at Decker as the leader of the Lions offensive. He's been in Detroit the longest and his voice has been one of the loudest during that time. It continues to be really weird when Lions fans suggest trading him at least once a year. The guy has been consistently good this whole time. It's not easy to just find a left tackle that'll play well for you for nearly a decade.

The camp expectation for him is that he just continues to be the reliable player that he's been all this time. Keep leading one of the best offensive lines in football.

Frank Ragnow

Frank Ragnow is just the epitome of the term "blue collar football player." Ragnow played the entire 2022 season with an injured foot and you never heard the man complain. He would be honest about it, but you never got the sense that he had any thought of dipping out early for surgery.

Sadly that foot injury is inoperable. It's something that just has to heal on it's own. Ragnow did say that he's learning to manage the pain and that he's optimistic about it, so that's good. As far as camp expectations, It's just to take care of yourself Frank. Everyone knows you're a badass at this point. No need to push it too hard before the season.

Penei Sewell

The scariest thing about Penei Sewell is that he's just 22 years old and he's already one of the leagues top tackles. I don't think we've seen his best yet. That's insane right? This guy could actually get better. What a nightmare for defensive linemen.

In terms of camp expectations, I would like to see Sewell take on some leadership in 2023. Decker and Ragnow aren't going to be playing forever and Sewell is the future of this franchise. Last week we wrote about how he's one of the four pillars of this team. Let's see that start to go into action this summer. It's your line Sewell, lead it.

Jonah Jackson

Jackson has become an increasingly good football player. Man, Bob Quinn did a lot of things wrong, but he really did build a nice offensive line for the Lions.

It's contract extension time for Jonah Jackson. You know what, that's going to be my camp expectation for him in 2023. I guess this is really more for the team and his agent, but this needs to get done. Jackson has been great and the Lions need to make sure they keep this group together. Go get paid Jonah. That's your job this summer. That and continue to be good at your job.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai

This is a layup. The camp expectation for Vaitai is that shows up healthy and ready to go. We know that'll be the case since he showed up at OTA's and mini camp and participated in both.

The Lions have had a bit of a revolving door at right guard in times and it would be nice for them to shore that up before a big season where big things are expected. really, it would be nice to see this whole group actually play together for a whole season. We just haven't seen that before.

Graham Glasgow

The Lions should have never let Glasgow walk out the door. It's still one of the more puzzling moves of Bob Quinn time in Detroit, and there were a lot of puzzling moves.

The camp expectation for Glasgow is simple. Challenge Halapoulivaati Vaitai for his spot in the starting lineup. It's expected that Vaitai just goes right back into that spot after healing up from injury, but nothing is set in stone. Glasgow was once really good with most of this offensive line. Maybe he can do it again after having a solid showing at training camp. This is going to be one of the more interesting camp battles to watch.

Germain Ifedi

Ifedi is good signing for the Lions. His days of being a full time starter are long gone, but he can still be a big part of the Lions depth along the line. After all the injuries this team has had on the line, depth is a very good thing to have.

His camp expectation is that he shows that he can still be a good tackle in this league. Even if it's in a smaller role. On top of that, it would be cool for some of these younger players to have another mentor on the roster.

The rest of the gang

The Lions have a slew of young guys that all have certain expectations for camp this summer. Logan Stenberg is a decent run blocker, but he has a real weakness when it comes to pass blocking. That's something he can work on at camp. Hard Knocks star Obinna Eze has something that this coaching staff really likes. It's time to see some of that show through to everyone else. Rookie Colby Sorsdal is more than likely moving from tackle to guard. Let's see how he handles that at camp.

Matt Nelson, Kayode Awosika, Darin Paulo, Max Pircher, Ross Piersbacher, Ryan Swoboda, Connor Galvin and Brad Cecil are all going to be fighting for roster spots. It should be interesting to see who shines the most out of this group. My money on Awosika right now. He played for the Lions last season and even started a couple games.
