Rashod Berry suspended indefinitely for gambling

One former New England Patriots player is among the NFL's latest round of suspensions.

Rashod Berry, who spent the 2020-21 season in New England was suspended indefinitely through at least the the 2023 season for violating the league's gambling policy, the NFL announced in a statement.

Berry, who is currently on the Indianapolis Colts was one of three players suspended indefinitely, with fellow teammate Isaiah Rodgers and free agent Demetrius Taylor also being handed the suspensions.

Following the announcement, the Colts released Berry and Rodgers.

Tennessee Titans OL was also disciplined for betting on non-NFL sports at the club facility and is suspended for the team's first six games.

Berry signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2020, but was waived during the final roster cuts. He was then signed to the practice squad immediately after and was elevated to the active roster for three games throughout the season.

He had stints with the Detriot Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars, before being signed by the Colts.

Berry is just one of seven players who received at least one year suspensions due to gambling in the last two years. The NFL has also handed out three six-game suspensions for non-NFL bets done while at the facility.

Berry isn't the only player to have a tie to Massachusetts with Rodgers, the Colts cornerback, having played at UMass Amherst from 2016–2019.

The league's rule simple states, "The gambling policy prohibits anyone in the NFL from engaging in any form of gambling in any club or league facility or venue, including the practice facility, per the league.

With the uptick in players violating the policy, the NFL enlisted former quarterback Tom Brady to record an introduction for an educational video about the league's gambling policy.
