The Dallas Cowboys had a successful 12-win campaign in 2022 which led to their second consecutive playoff appearance. But for quarterback Dak Prescott, it didn't go as smoothly as he would've liked.

He was able to beat Tom Brady in the playoffs on the road, ending the career of the greatest quarterback the NFL has ever seen. However, Prescott had trouble turning the ball over with a league-leading 15 interceptions in the regular season and had two more in the Cowboys' playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Prescott did excel in one area, though.

For any quarterback, completing passes inside the 10-yard line is extremely difficult because the space to throw is so limited. Despite his interception problem, Prescott's 63% completion percentage near the goal line ranked third in the league among quarterbacks with at least 20 attempts.

Prescott has a chance to be even better in this situation in 2023.

CeeDee Lamb has evolved into a top-10 wide receiver. With veteran Brandin Cooks in the mix, and hopefully a healthy Michael Gallup, opposing defenses will have to pick their poison on who the focus on. Plus, running back Tony Pollard and the Cowboys' three-headed attack at tight end with the drafting of Luke Schoonmaker can create some matchup problems as well, the more weapons the better.

Prescott was on the receiving end of a lot of vitriol last season. Some of it was self-inflicted, and some of it was out of his control like receivers not hauling in catchable passes that turned into interceptions.

What gets lost is that the Cowboys had one of the best offenses in the NFL after his return in Week 7 from a fractured thumb, and as was documented earlier, he was able to get the job done under some tough circumstances.

In conclusion, the notion that Prescott is overrated or that he isn't one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL just isn't true.
